These are the long-lost photographs that recorded The CLUB's arduous expedition up a perilous mountain path leading to the infamous hawkins county firetower. Our vessel for this excursion was the good ship Twinkmobile, with the steely-witted Captain Twinkie at the helm. The voyage was fraught with dangers, not the least of which were huge ruts, rocks, and branches that made navigating the washed-out trail into a nightmarish ascent fated to lead us to certain doom. These images are scratched and out of focus, undoubtedly due to the photographer's inability to keep from shaking in fear for his life as Captain Twinkie piloted the battered Twinkmobile ever upwards. The journey came to an abrupt halt when, after the strenuous effort to climb this mountain that even seasoned off-road veterans in their tricked-out 4 x 4s wouldn't have attempted, the engine overheated and the Twinkmobile sputtered to a stop. So, enjoy the pictures, and if you have a chance, ask Twinkie just what he was thinking when he proposed this idea. |
